How many of us use our devices to avoid things we need to address or take action on? The stress in life can be so intense that we just self-soothe with a few hours of scrolling.

For some, attachment to  phones isn't the issue. There are lots of unhealthy coping strategies out there, but for now let's focus on the issue of turning to our devices to self-soothe, rather than turning to God about our deepest desires. 

How long have you been married? When did you meet? Were you highschool sweethearts?

I met my husband in Kindergarten and I just loved him! 

My love continued to grow and within two years I told my 2nd grade teacher, "I am going to marry Joel Zehnder." 

Our friendship continued to grow and in the 6th grade we finally made it official when Joel asked me to be his girlfriend! I was over the moon! Convinced we would never break up and would for sure grow old together…

Women of the world today are so strong, and yet on the verge of self-destruction because we are looking inward, not upward. It is getting painful and exhausting. We are taking on roles that were never intended for us. I don’t think it is what God intended for us, and I for one don’t want to question Him. So what do we do?...

When I think about the world our boys are growing up in, and how I want to raise them, I think about the challenges they will face. How will I prepare them to be strong and brave; to stand up for who they are no matter what? To treat women with respect, but also receive respect as the heads of their home... 

Do you ever wonder what our Heavenly Father would want for Father’s Day? I mean, really?

It truly has led me to dive into scripture, and I am reminded of just how good He is. You really can get to know the heart of God by simply opening the book He wrote to all of us. The Bible has His thoughts, His commandments, His desires for His beloved children (all of us). 

And I will be honest, this is the hardest thing I have ever done. Fully surrendering. But I trust my God, I trust his design for marriage, and I trust this man that I vowed "for better or worse; in sickness and in health; for richer or poorer."

And guess what ladies?...

What if we loved our spouse and all their imperfections 100%? What if we could simply stop getting frustrated and annoyed with them, and start accepting the things that make us crazy?! 

When I tell my husband "You're driving me crazy," he responds "Crazy in love!" 🤣🙄

Spend time with things that love you back.

This is the phrase, this is the secret sauce, this is what helps us navigate parenting in a digital world. 

Do you feel like screens have literally taken over this year? In the most wonderful way and yet the most overwhelming way, screens are a part of our everyday lives. 

In our home, we have been using the phrase...

This last week was interesting. We had my dad here for the first time since shut down for a "Quaran-cation"..... a vacation where he came down from...

When you think of having a firm foundation, what do you think of? Do you think of your faith? Your family? Your health? Your home? 

Here at Family Strong, we think of them all! And each of them take patience, grace, and hard work.

 

You know when the kids are yelling, the dog is barking, the dishes are piled up, and your husband asks you to do....one.more.thing? 🥴

Do you ever just take a deep breath and exhale 'overwhelm' and inhale what we call 'wonderful chaos?'
